The built-in distal off-set slightly rotates the upper first molars thereby decreasing the mesio-distal diameter of the molars. This permits correct space consolidation. “ERX” - Upper First Molar Brackets These brackets are designed to permit extraction space closure where extractions occur solely in the maxillary arch. A lack of distal off-set slightly de-rotates the upper first molars thereby increasing the mesio-distal diameter of the molars. This permits correct space consolidation. ER and ERX Upper First Molar Brackets SPEED ER and ERX Upper First Molar Brackets feature an elongated bonding base which mirrors the complex buccal curvature of the upper first molar. The bracket carries the designation ‘ER’ for “Enhanced Retention”. These unique attachments: • Eliminate the need for molar bands • Impart precise 3-dimensional molar control due to the action of the SPEED Spring Clip • Permit use of compression coil due to the wide interbracket span created between attachments • Significantly reduce bond failures due to the large pad size and precise anatomical fit In cases where the roots of the laterals are positioned far lingually, special lateral brackets may be used. These special lateral brackets feature extra built-in labial root torque for rapid root positioning and slight overcorrection for retention. When using these attachments care should be taken to avoid an excessive amount of labial root movement.
