Introducing Trillium Compression Hooks The Strength of a Soldered Hook The Convenience of a Crimpable Hook Consider your options. Soldered hooks offer strength and rigidity, at the expense of convenience and time. Crimpable hooks install quickly, but can migrate under orthodontic traction, costing valuable treatment time. Both options present a number of compromises. The Solution - Metallurgic Elasticity Strength at the expense of Convenience Convenience at the expense of Strength Trillium Compression Hooks are slightly undersized relative to their corresponding wire. Made of Nickel Titanium, Trillium Compression Hooks deflect super-elastically around the wire during installation. Once installed, the Super Elastic Trillium Compression Hook grips tight, applying a compressive force to the archwire virtually eliminating the possibility of hook migration. Dr. Francois Bérubé - Quebec, Canada Experience the possibilities! A small, elegant hook that can be positioned in seconds without removing the archwire. The strength of a soldered hook - the convenience of a crimpable hook. Use Trillium Compression Hooks creatively to establish force application systems anywhere in the arch. See examples of Trillium in action on the following pages. Trillium Clinical Applications Trillium Clinical Benefits Trillium - An Essential Tool in My Practice I use Trillium Hooks daily in my practice for Class I, II, and III space closure, surgical applications, and managing anchorage. Before Trillium, the products I used for these applications all possessed inherent limitations. Crimpable hooks were prone to migration along the archwire and crimping could introduce undesired bends. Loops, while secure, were imprecise and time consuming. Pre-posted wires were expensive, and the post would rarely be in the ideal location. Soldering was messy, time consuming, and could affect the local properties of the wire. Trillium Compression Hooks impose none of these limitations offering significant clinical benefits: Secure - Trillium’s nickel titanium design tightly grasps the archwire. Easy - Two easy steps. Load the Trillium Plier. Snap Trillium onto the archwire. Fast - Trillium can be applied in seconds without removing the archwire. Precise - Precision force delivery with no hook migration along the archwire. Versatile - Place Trillium exactly where needed to suit the clinical application. Clean - Trillium’s smoothly contoured silhouette ensures ease of hygiene. Customizable - Available in a variety of sizes, for a variety of archwires.

TRILLIUM CLINICAL APPLICATIONS Class I Mechanics The ideal solution for Class I correction. Trillium Hooks grasp the wire tightly, eliminating the potential for hook migration, round tripping, and lost treatment time. Once spaces are closed, elastic wear can be maintained to prevent spaces from opening. An esthetic, hygienic, alternative to powerchain. Class I Posterior Protraction Class I Anterior Retraction Trillium Hooks are applied to upper and lower archwires distal to the laterals in this Class II surgical case. Light elastic Class I traction is applied from the Trillium Hook to the first molars to facilitate posterior protraction in both arches. Trillium Hooks are applied distal to the upper laterals. Light elastics are applied from the Trillium Hooks to the upper first molars to facilitate anterior retraction in upper arch.

TRILLIUM CLINICAL APPLICATIONS Class II Mechanics Retract with confidence. Trillium offers greater security than crimpable hooks, more precision than loops and greater versatility than pre-posted wires. Trillium is easily placed exactly where needed, eliminating the need to maintain a large, costly inventory of pre-posted archwires. Class II Mechanics Trillium Hooks are placed distal to the laterals in the upper arch. Class II mechanics are applied from the Trillium Hooks to the lower first molars. In the lower arch, traction force from the Trillium Hooks placed distal to the canines and running to the lower second molars provides anchorage and keeps the spaces closed.

TRILLIUM CLINICAL APPLICATIONS Class III Mechanics Count on Trillium in difficult Class III cases where complex inter-arch orthodontic force delivery systems are required. Whether using elastics or coil springs, Trillium’s tight grip ensures effective force delivery for the most demanding clinical situations. Class III / Crossbite Correction Asymmetric Class III patient with elastics running from a Trillium Hook distal to the upper right canine to a Trillium Hook distal to the lower right central to facilitate Class III correction on patient’s right. Trillium Hooks are also used on the right and left side for anchorage. Trillium Hooks are placed distal to the canines in the upper and lower arches with Class I elastic traction applied from the Trillium Hooks to first molars. Standard triangular elastics are present on the patient’s left to correct the open bite.

TRILLIUM CLINICAL APPLICATIONS Surgical Applications Prepare both arches for surgical fixation in minutes without removing the archwire. Trillium Hooks can be easily engaged with surgical wires or elastics, and are available in a variety of hook lengths. A new benchmark in efficiency and a hook that you, your surgeon, and your patients can count on. Surgical Fixation Hook Length 1mm 3mm Small Medium 2mm Large Trillium Hooks are placed between all the teeth in both arches for surgical fixation. In areas where inflamed gingiva is present or gingival impingement is possible, small Trillium Hooks can be used to ensure patient comfort and minimize hygiene complications. Trillium Hooks are available in a variety of lengths to suit the requirements of the case being treated.

TRILLIUM CLINICAL APPLICATIONS Traction on Round Nickel Titanium Wires Initiate space closure sooner. Trillium grips tightly on light round nickel titanium wires, providing a greater range of clinical treatment options. Trillium’s Super Elastic design will securely grip virtually any archwire regardless of shape or metallurgic composition. Sliding on Round Wires Trillium Hooks are installed on round .018 Nickel Titanium wire distal to both laterals in the upper arch. Class I elastics are placed from the Trillium Hooks to the second bicuspids on the patient’s right and left to facilitate space closure using light forces.

TRILLIUM CLINICAL APPLICATIONS Open Bite Correction An efficient solution for open bite cases. Position a Trillium Hook strategically on the archwire for effective open bite correction. Applying traction to a Trillium Hook installed on the archwire results in corrective forces being applied to the entire arch, reducing the potential for the undesirable side effects that can be caused when applying traction to an individual tooth. Open Bite Correction Pre-Surgical patient with a Trillium Hook placed in the upper arch in the canine position. Triangular elastics are running from the Trillium Hook to the lower canine / first bicuspid to correct the cant of the mandibular occlusal plane. This approach will avoid the need for the patient to undergo a mandibular osteotomy, limiting the surgical proce- dure to the maxilla.

TRILLIUM CLINICAL APPLICATIONS Midline Correction Midline correction simplified. Install Trillium Hooks on the upper and lower archwires to initiate effective midline correction. An efficient alternative to inter-arch elastics applied directly to integral bracket hooks which often result in the creation of undesired spaces. Spaces which will later need to be closed extending treatment. Midline Correction Trillium Hooks are placed distal to the upper left central and distal to lower right lateral. Elastic traction is applied to correct the midline discrepancy. Application of the traction forces to the archwire permits force application to be applied to the entire arch, and eliminates the potential for undesired spaces opening if traction forces were applied to individual teeth.

TRILLIUM CLINICAL APPLICATIONS Traction with TAD’s Combine Trillium Hooks with Temporary Anchorage Devices in situations when Absolute Anchorage is required. Trillium’s tight grip on the archwire ensures that corrective forces applied will be fully delivered to the dentition. TAD Applications Severe midline correction with TAD’s and Trillium Hooks. Traction is applied from the TAD on the patient’s right to an archwire hook on the upper first molar (not shown). On the patient’s left, traction is applied from the Trillium Hook distal to the canine to a TAD placed between the upper first and second molars. A Trillium Hook is also placed distal to the canine. An elastic is placed from the Trillium Hook to the lower second molar for space consolidation and as an esthetic and hygienic alternative to powerchain.

TRILLIUM CLINICAL APPLICATIONS Anchorage Management Manage anchorage creatively and efficiently with Trillium. Trillium Hooks can be easily positioned adjacent to molars for effective lace back / tie back / cinch back applications. Lace Back Application Trillium Hooks are positioned mesially and in tight contact with the lower left and right first molar SPEED Convertible Tubes. A ligature tie from the hook on the Convertible Tube to the stem of the Trillium hook provides anchorage for the molar and will prevent undesired spaces from opening during the finishing stages of treatment.

TRILLIUM CLINICAL APPLICATIONS Anchorage Management Gain space and keep it. Install a Trillium Hook in seconds at any location on the archwire to manage anchorage. Once spaces are closed, elastic wear from Trillium Hooks to brackets can be maintained throughout treatment to keep segments closed. Powerchain Alternative Trillium Hooks are installed distal to the canines in the upper arch. Elastic traction is applied from the Trillium Hook to the upper second molar to keep spaces closed.

TRILLIUM CLINICAL APPLICATIONS Using Trillium as a Stop Trillium’s “Slip Proof” design make effective stops in critical situations where spaces must be maintained. Trillium grips tight regardless of wire metallurgy, and is available in dimensions to match virtually any wire size or geometry. The ultimate Stop. Stop Application Pre Surgical case with Trillium Hooks installed tight to the distal of the lower left canine and to the mesial of the lower left bicuspid to maintain an open space for a future implant. An additional Trillium Hook is placed in the middle of the archwire span between the lower left canine and the bicuspid which will be used for surgical fixation.
