How to Open/Close

Easy to open. The SPEED Convertible Tube requires no special instrument or complicated technique.

Insert the tip of a SPEED
Opening Instrument or similar sized dental scaler into the Occlusal Indent of the Tube Body.

Apply the opening force
toward the center of the
archwire slot.

Snap

The Microlatch will make an audible “snap” and rotate into “slot open” position.


Closing

Closing SPEED Convertible tubes is easily accomplished with a finger or instrument.

Apply closure force to the Microlatch until it engages in the retainer slot. This will occur with an audible “snap”.

Note: Ensure the Microlatch is fully closed to prevent the archwire from releasing under bucally directed forces.

Ensuring the Microlatch is Fully Closed

Once the Microlatch is closed, use a blunt instrument such as a band pusher to apply a firm force first to the Distal, and then to the Mesial of the Microlatch. This will ensure that the entire length of the Microlatch is contained in the Retainer Slot.
